Yayra Glover LTD (YGL) has awarded five best performing cocoa purchasing clerks for the 2019-2020 cocoa season.
The five awardees including a female were honored for buying good quality cocoa and providing dedicated service to the company.
The awardees individually received prizes of certificates, fridges, and motorbikes. The award ceremony was organized in the communities of the awardees and attended by community leaders, cocoa farmers, and the leadership of YGL Farmer-Based-Organizations (FBOs).
The company adjudged Mr. Daniel Larbi as The Best Organic Cocoa Buyer for the 2019-2020 cocoa season. He received a motorbike and a certificate of excellence, and Mr. Eric Opare took the second position in the same category. He also received a certificate of excellence and a motorbike.
The Best Quality Buyer for the cocoa crop season went to Mr. Stephen Tei. He received a motorbike and a certificate as his prize.
Mr. William Ablonyi and Madam Mary Otoo each received a certificate of excellence and a refrigerator as the Best Buyer of UTZ Cocoa, and the Best Female Buyer respectively for the cocoa season.
Addressing the awardees at a ceremony at Suhum, Mr. Yayrator Glover, the CEO of the company implored purchasing clerks of the company to work diligently and buy good quality and chemical-residue-free cocoa beans to be able to meet the high-quality standard set by clients abroad.
He designated the award winners as Quality Ambassadors of the company and urged them to lead the campaign to produce good quality and clean cocoa beans for the company.
He said that the company needs the support of purchasing clerks to succeed in its quality campaign to make the country a destination for high-quality organic cocoa of Ghana origin.
Mr. Glover stated that high quality has become a benchmark for stakeholders in the cocoa value chain and warned all purchasing clerks to desist from buying bad cocoa beans or risk doing business with the company.
The CEO said cocoa farmers’ destiny hinges on the weight of cocoa they produce and warned that any purchasing clerk who adjusts a cocoa buying scale would be sanctioned and handed over to the police.
Mr. George Dotse, Internal Control Systems (ICS) Manager of Yayra Glover LTD commended cocoa farmers, purchasing clerks, and the company’s agricultural field officers for their hard work, which he said made it possible for the company to achieve its target during the cocoa season.
He urged the farmers to take advantage of the Market Oriented Agricultural Advisory Services (MOAAS) provided by the company’s field officers to ensure that they produce good quality and healthy cocoa beans.
